Analysis: Youths Analysis and national development in Nigeria

According to Kidadi team (2021), the future holds promises and dreams for youths that can be achieve through hard work, dedication, planning, education and the word of wisdom.

Based on the Kidadi team quotation meant the future of all countries lied on how they prepare their youths with the culture of hard work, dedication, planning, education and the wisdom's, because their youths will take over the mantle of leadership, if fail to prepare them for the future challenges their countries will have no future.

According to a report, there are over 1.8 billion young people in the world today, 90% of whom live in developing countries like Nigeria, where they tend to make up a large proportion of the population. The report added that, more than 235 million youths from India and 225 million from China alone. This means India and China made up the large population of the youths. But China prepared their youths against the future challenges by providing them with accessible education and jobs. The poverty level in China has reduced drastically because of the serious measures the country took.

Microtrend in Nigeria population (2021) says,  Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with one of the largest populations of youth in the world, comprising 211,400,708 members. Youth in Nigeria according to new youth policy (2019), includes citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria aged 18-29 years. African youth charter recognises youth as people between 15-35 years. Variance in chronological are used in defining youth and are addressed by members of the state in accordance to their particular society.

Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo from 1997 - 2007, believes that identifying and addressing issues that would enhance the lives of the youth would improve overall national development (2013). He stated that youth constitute Nigeria's only hope for a greater future.

In spite of this youths opportunity in Nigeria, youths were still uneducated and highest joblessness affecting most of them.  The politicians in the country were taking this problem unserious, this leaded to the serious insecurity in the country (like banditry, kidnapping, Boko Haram and molestation). These youths had started understanding the level of maltreatment politicians were doing on them, in which the youths started taking over any opportunity to cause violence in the country.

The United Nations and the western world had been warning the country about of youths and funding projects to curb joblessness in the country. If the country leaders will take this warning seriously, the future of Nigeria will be bright and the youths will lead the country  to a greater hight.

Finally,  Nigeria is a country bless with creative and innovative youths, if the country leaders will use this opportunity, creativity will be boosted in the country leading the country to a greater hight.
