Russia-Ukraine War: The Root of Russia-Ukraine War and Its Impact

The recent Russian-Ukrainian war has traced from 2014 conflict which lead to Ukrainian revolution and other events. The Russian annexation of Crimea and  its support on eastern Donbass in which they supplied them with weapons and other war equippments. The Ukrainian revolution resulted in the topling the Pro-Russian President Yanukovych and the proliferation of a Western government supporters increased serious tensions between the two waring countries.

In 2014 when Crimea was annexed by Russia condemned by international communities especially Pro-Western nations, leaded international sanction against Russia and its allies. This affecting the economy of Russia seriously, selling oil and gas becoming difficult for the country.

Due to the coming of winter and the need for Russian gas and oil in the region, the West decided to cap the oil and gas prices of Russia, even though, Russia disagreed with decision.

The conflict in eastern Ukraine has caused death of thousands of people and numbers of humanitarian crisis, and is continued as I am writing today. In spite of several attempts to call for ceasefires and peace agreements failed.

Thus, United Nations and European Union, two major key supporters of the war, have also responded to the Russian invasion by imposed series of economic sanctions against its  actions in Ukraine. This war will remain a great concern for international communities with diplomatic efforts to find a peaceful ways of resolving the conflict.

Finally, Russian-Ukrainian war will only be resolve by accepting each other as a neibouring sovereign existing states, its the responsibility for international communities to intervene and end this war. The effect of this war was affecting the world entirely, prices of goods and services have skyrocketed globally including the prices of oil. The third world nations were suffering and western assistance reduced from Africa to fund the war. In this war, there is no winner because both sides have strong supporters and sophisticated weapons were used.

Impact of Russia - Ukrainian war

This war have tremendously affecting the world entirely. Since the war started the prices of wheat, oil and other goods coming from both Russia and Ukraine reached to unbearable positions. Especially poor nations living on assistance from wealthy nations and donors. Here are some of the key economic impacts of this war:

1. International sanctions against Russia have crashed its economy, Russian found it difficult to access international markets, its reserved frozen, foreign companies especially Pro-Western left the Russian markets and investors left its especially multi national companies. Russian became difficult to use international payments system and disrupted trades between Russia and Ukraine poorly.

2.The war has affected the industrial output in both Russia and Ukraine. Almost all industries in Ukraine halt operations due to war, workers fleed to other countries to survive their lives. Some productions in Russia stayed to use in Russia and Pro-Russian countries. Wheat is difficult to transport to Europe, Asia and Africa. Transport of raw materials for both became difficult. Eastern Ukraine became a major areas affected because of large scales of industries.

3. As a result of infilation caused by the war and decrease in purchasing powers of people and nations, these resulted the depreciation of countries currencies. Most countries with strong currencies were complained, Africans were much affected, where people are finding it difficult to eat and buy medicines.

4. According to UNHCR report, between February 2022 to September 2022, about 12.3 millions Ukrainians displaced, out of them 9.2 millions displaced in Four European countries. Provision of aids to these people is not an easy task which affected the economy of these countries hosting the displaced people. increased costs for the government and decreased economic activity in affected regions. This is one of largest humanitarian crisis.

4. Proliferation of arms in the region. Russia was trying it best to win and the West and allies were trying their best to win by supplying huge amount of money, aids, medical equipments and arms. This caused most of the European arsenals drained due to supplies to Ukhaire. On the part of Russia, to continue on the front line of the war, most huge money and revenues generated from resources were using in this war. Russian savings culminated to the expenditure of this current war.

5. Cooking gas and fuels became expensive for the developing countries, Europe due to sanctions on buying Russian oil. Life became difficult in most European and developing nations especially those depending Western aids.

6. The price of international currency (American Dollar) had skyrocketed to the level of insane. Imports from industrialised nations required American Dollar, without Dollar imports will hardly take place, so life will be unbearable to less industrialised nations.

7. The world now divided into three: Pro-West, Pro-Russia and Neutralist groups. Most European countries were supporting the war, seeing the war as a way to liberate them from Russian aggressions while those doing business with Russia, were supporting Russia to win, seeing Russia is trying to depend self from Western conquer.

In conclusion, I'm not condeming or supporting the war but to allow peace, peaceful coexistance to reign better for the two neighbouring nations. World leaders should intervene on this war and call for dialoque to end the war that is almost lasted for a year now.
